Avengers: Endgame Creates Worldwide History; Beats Avatar To Become The Highest Grossing Movie Ever
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth's, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner's  Avengers Endgame which was released on April 26, 2019, took everyone by storm. So much so that, the film has now ended (we mean dethroned) James Cameron's Avatar's 10-year dream run and grabbed the top spot of the highest-grossing film of all time. On Sunday, Disney said the film had earned $2.79 billion at the global box office, topping  Avatar’s record of $2.7897 billion.

This is even more commendable, as Endgame has been in theatres for just 87 days while Avatar, for comparison, ran for 234 days during its first run, and was then re-released in 2010. Endgame had its own re-release, of sorts, in June. Marvel Studios began showing a new theatrical release of the film with a special tribute to Stan Lee by adding a 10-minute deleted scene and a teaser for Spider-Man: Far From Home at the end of the credits.

Thor AKA Chris Hemsworth even took to his Instagram handle and shared the news with his fans, he wrote, "Thank you to all the fans around the world that lifted Avengers Endgame to historic heights making it the top grossing film of all time !!"

Alan Horn, co-chairman and chief creative officer of the Walt Disney Studios, said, “A huge congratulations to the Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios teams, and thank you to the fans around the world who lifted Avengers: Endgame to these historic heights.

“Of course, even with the passage of a decade, the impact of James Cameron’s Avatar remains as powerful as ever, and the astonishing achievements of both of these films are ongoing proof of the power of movies to move people and bring them together in a shared experience.”

Avengers: Endgame is the sequel to 2012’s The Avengers, 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. This film is the 22nd film in the Marvel cinematic universe and the fourth blockbuster in the Avengers series. This film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin in the lead roles.
